What cancelling does, and the narrow cases where money comes back
Last updated: 5 August 2026
This page is part of the Terms of Service between you and Sumvaik Management Consulting Private Limited, which operates Shally. It sets out how subscriptions are cancelled, what happens to access and data when they are, and the specific circumstances in which a refund is due. Where this page and the Terms of Service differ on cancellation or refunds, this page governs. Where the subject is the handling of personal data, the Data Processing Addendum governs over both — so the order of precedence is: the DPA on personal data, then this page on cancellation and refunds, then the Terms of Service.
We would rather be blunt than vague: Shally subscriptions are sold for a fixed term — monthly or annual — and that commitment is what lets us price the product the way we do. Fees are non-cancellable and non-refundable except in the cases listed in section 3. Please use the 14-day free trial to decide whether Shally fits your agency. The trial requires no card, and no charge is made until you choose a paid plan.
Cancelling a Shally subscription means one thing: your subscription will not renew. Specifically:
If you ask us to end your access immediately rather than at the end of the paid period, we will do that — but no refund is due for the unused remainder.
Except as set out in section 3 and section 5, fees paid or payable for a subscription term are non-cancellable and the amounts paid are non-refundable. This applies regardless of usage. In particular, we do not refund because:
Downgrades take effect immediately, not at your renewal date. When you move to a smaller plan, the features and limits of that smaller plan apply from the moment you confirm the change — you do not keep the larger plan for the rest of the term you paid for. We do not issue credits or refunds for the difference. If you would rather keep what you have paid for until the term ends, cancel instead of downgrading: cancelling stops the renewal and leaves your current plan running to the end of the period.
Consumables are non-refundable once purchased, and unused balances do not expire into cash. This covers wallet top-ups, per-document charges such as proposal credits, storage add-ons, and any other pay-as-you-go balance you buy. A purchased balance remains available in your workspace while your account is open; it is not converted back to money, and it is not transferable between workspaces.
AI action credits work differently — they are a monthly allowance, not a stored balance. Each plan includes a number of AI actions per month, and add-ons raise that monthly number. The allowance resets at the start of each billing month: unused AI actions do not roll over, do not accumulate, and are not refundable.
There are four situations in which we refund. Two of them are contractual commitments we make to you; the other two exist because it would be wrong not to.
| Situation | What you receive | Processing time |
|---|---|---|
| Shally terminates your subscription for cause, or materially fails to provide the service | Refund of prepaid fees covering the remainder of the term | 7–10 working days from approval |
| You reasonably object to a new sub-processor and terminate on that ground (see the DPA) | Pro-rata refund of prepaid fees for the unused period | 7–10 working days from approval |
| A duplicate or clearly erroneous charge (e.g. the same period billed twice) | Refund of the duplicated or erroneous amount | 7–10 working days from confirmation |
| A refund is mandated by the law that applies to you | As required by that law | Within the statutory period, or 7–10 working days if none is specified |
| You cancel, downgrade, stop using Shally, or forget to cancel before renewal | No refund. Cancellation stops the next renewal; access continues to the end of the paid period | Not applicable |
Timeline. Where a refund is due, we initiate it within 7–10 working days of approving the request. Your bank or card issuer then takes its own time to post the credit — typically a further 5–7 working days — which is outside our control. We will tell you the date we initiated the refund and the reference, so you can trace it with your bank.
Original payment method. Refunds are made to the same payment method used for the original transaction — the same card, the same bank account, the same UPI handle — unless you instruct us otherwise in writing. We do not refund to a different person or a different instrument on request alone, because that is how refund fraud works.
Currency. Refunds are made in the currency you were charged in. Where your bank applies a foreign-exchange rate on the refund that differs from the rate applied on the original charge, the difference is set by your bank and not by us.
Taxes. Any GST, VAT or sales tax collected on a refunded amount is refunded with it, subject to the tax rules that apply.
Shally is sold worldwide, and some countries give buyers cancellation or refund rights that a contract cannot take away. Where the law that applies to you grants you rights that override these terms — for example a statutory cooling-off or withdrawal right for consumers buying at a distance in the EU or UK, or a mandatory consumer guarantee elsewhere — those rights prevail over this page, and nothing here is intended to limit them. Tell us which right you are exercising and we will honour it. Note that many of these rights apply to consumers rather than to businesses, and Shally is sold as a business tool.
You can export your data from Shally at any time while your subscription is active, from the export tools in the product. Export before your paid period ends. Once the term ends your subscription is no longer active, and we may close access to the workspace — and to the in-product export tools with it — at any point after that date. Do not rely on being able to log in once the term is over. If you need your data after that, ask us before the term ends and we will arrange it.
After termination, Customer Content and associated personal data are deleted or irreversibly anonymised within 90 days of account termination (typically sooner), except where retention is required by applicable law — for example financial records under Indian tax law. The full commitment is in section 10 of the Data Processing Addendum. If you need a copy of your data after your term has ended and before that window closes, email us and we will help where we still can.
Every signup starts with a 14-day free trial and no card is required, so a trial cannot generate a charge and there is nothing to refund. If you do not choose a paid plan, the trial simply ends. Please use the trial to evaluate Shally properly — it exists precisely so that the non-refundable position in section 2 is fair.
Cancel before your renewal date. A cancellation submitted after a renewal has been charged takes effect at the end of that newly-started period, and the charge is not refunded.
If you believe a charge is wrong, please contact us before raising a chargeback with your bank — we can usually resolve a billing error faster than a card network can, and we would rather fix it. If you have a complaint about how we handled a cancellation or a refund, our named Grievance Officer and the acknowledgement and resolution timelines are on the Contact page.
If we change this policy we will update this page and the last-updated date above. A change that reduces your refund rights applies only to subscription terms that begin after the change; it does not reach back into a term you have already paid for.
